Take your time while using the chalk paint to ensure that the frame is fully covered. But just wipe off any dust or grime from your mirror frame using a rag. Mix 2/3 provence chalk paint with 1/3 duck egg blue chalk paint.

I ended up applying three coats in total. The first step is pretty basic. I used a jar of chalk paint i picked up on clearance a while ago from a craft store, but spray chalk paint would work just as well (perhaps even better!).

The clear coat followed after two coats of chalk paint that i left to dry overnight. For this mirror, i used annie sloan products: Paint entire frame of mirror.

Take The Frame Outside, And Lay It Down On Some Newspaper.


If possible shove paper between the frame and mirror. Apply one coat of primer and allow it to dry for at least 15 minutes before applying a second coat of primer. Place the mirror on top.

To Add Wax Over Detailed Areas, Use A Small Stiff Paint Brush To Push It Into The Grooves.


Just rub the wax over the paint, pushing as you go. Use a gray primer if you’re painting your frame a dark color, like black. This will really make the details stand out.
